Our focus is on providing learning opportunities for our members. Through presentations, hands-on workshops and small group collaboration our members are supporting each other on our individual creative journeys.
PRESENTATIONS.
Our monthly meetings include a presentation by a local, regional, or nationally known fiber artist. Past speakers have included: Tom Knisely, Peter Collingwood, Daryl Lancaster, Madelyn van der Hoogt, and Sarah Swett. Often these presentations are in conjunction with a workshop given by the speaker on the following weekend.
WORKSHOPS.
Several times a year we host 1 to 3-day workshops. Instructors may be local professionals from our region or across the country. These workshops are fee-based and may have a limit on participants. Click here for details on current offerings.
STUDY GROUPS.
Within our membership, smaller study groups meet at different times and locations. The group members support one another in their specific interest area. Members of all skill and experience levels are welcome to attend. Some groups are meeting via Zoom others are in-person. Contact the lead person to find out specifics. Firehouse Spinners: spinning together most Thursdays. Foursomes: reviews basic weaving techniques and structures for 4-shaft weaving. Samplers: selects one topic each year to research, discuss and share what they are learning. South Whidbey Spinners: all levels of spinners, drop-spindlers, knitters, crocheters, or any portable fiber art. Ebey’s Tapestry: meets monthly to help each other learn and weave tapestry. STUDY FUNDS.
The guild raises money through the annual Auction and other events to provide study funds for individual members to help defray the cost of workshops, individual study, or attendance at conferences.
